About Casa De Mosaic

Who we are

Casa de Mosaic is a San Diego-based non-profit that has operated as a volunteer driven program since March 2023. The organization aims to employ individuals affected by ASD by addressing challenges that are not supported by conventional employment. The organization is currently establishing its framework with the initial goal of providing employment for 4-6 individuals, and expansion goals are set for the second and third quarters of 2024.

About the Founder

Diana Figueroa, MSW

Diana earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work Administration from San Diego State University in 1996. From 1997 to 2004, she worked for the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency as a Protective Service Worker. From 2004 through 2023, has worked as a Family Court Services Mediator.

Diana met her husband, Rene, in 1990 and they were married in 1993. They have three children together: Monica, 29, Robert, 22, and Sofia, 13. Robert was diagnosed with ASD at 18 months, which led Diana to gain deep insight into the journey of individuals affected by ASD, from Early Services to the transition into adulthood.

Diana is currently preparing to take the LCSW licensing examination in 2023, and retired in November 2023 to dedicate her time to Casa De Mosaic’s mission and service delivery.

Where we are today

Casa De Mosaic is excited to begin its second year of operation.

In its inaugural year, Casa de Mosaic achieved significant milestones. We purchased and relocated to a standalone facility in the College Area, enhancing our capacity to serve our community. We launched a weekly farmers stand on-site, offering fresh, local eggs directly to the public. Through a dynamic partnership with the San Diego Public Library, we initiated bi-weekly reading sessions tailored for adults with autism, enriching their learning and social experiences. We also secured multiple grants that helped support our training programs, and actively participated in various community events to increase awareness and engagement with our cause.

Casa De Mosaic's farm stand is open weekly, Saturday 10:00am - 1:00pm. The stand is staffed by CDM participants.
Casa De Mosaic Community Participation events include beach and city street clean ups.
